Depression is one of the most common diseases world-wide and frequently under-recognized. The most common symptoms are depressed mood, concentration and attention difficulties, loss of interest or loss of joy of life, loss of motivation and social phobia. In addition, somatic symptoms such as heart pounding, pain, fear, impairment of consciousness, seizures, cramps, sleep disturbances, shortage of breath, numbness and anxiety may appear. Patients usually are unable to work or even keep up their daily living.
In the private Neurological Practice of Prof. Dr. A. Hufnagel the most advanced diagnostic equipment is available to diagnose or exclude depression. It includes ultrasound devices, EEG, neuropsychological testing and evoked potentials. If necessary, additional consultations are performed in close cooperation with other experts such as cardiologists or neuro-radiologists situated nearby.
Therapy of the depression includes medical treatment, psychotherapy and anti-stress training, specific activating physiotherapy and medical personal training and possibly magneto-electrical brain stimulation and neural acupuncture. Intensified therapeutic programs can be performed in the practice and the associated medical training center.
Patients from outside Düsseldorf may participate in intense diagnostic and therapeutic programs on a daily outpatient basis. For your stay in the centre of Düsseldorf, three 5 star and other hotels are located within 200 m walking distance from the practice.
