Muscle diseases are a large group of different diseases. Some of them are chronic and progressive.Exact diagnosis of the underlying cause at the beginning is essential for treatment.

In the private Neurological practice of Prof. Dr. A. Hufnagel the most advanced diagnostic equipment is available for the diagnosis of muscle diseases including electrophysiologic measurements of nerve conduction, electromyography, evoked potentials and extended lab evaluation of blood samples. MRI-scans, if necessary, may be performed in close cooperation with neuro-radiologists situated nearby in the center of Düsseldorf. Muscle biopsies are performed, if necessary, and evaluated by specialized neuro-pathologists.

A specific therapeutic program consisting of medical treatment, physiotherapy and medical personal training may be applied. In addition, neural-acupuncture and magneto-electrical nerve stimulation may be utilized.

Patients from outside Düsseldorf may participate in intense diagnostic and therapeutic programs on a daily outpatient basis in the practice and the associated medical training center.
